Our film production background goes back over 30 years, all the way back to 1990. A.G. Longhurst (Tony), left drama school and decided to write a play entitled: Long Live the King, soon taking up residency at The Springfield Park Tavern in Bounds Green, North London. Over the next few years, over 30 plays were produced, leading to Tony to start writing ‘Babysitters’ alongside Robert Putt. This was the beginning of Longhurst and Putt Productions.
Lucas and Albert was devised from the stage play Babysitters. Written and produced by Robert Putt and A. G. Longhurst, it tells the journey of the two hitmen sent to clean up a ‘bank robbery gone wrong’ from their perspective.
Starring A. G. Longhurst and James Osborne, the film also features Michael McKell, John Altman, Kim Taylforth, Sidney Livingstone, Sidney Kean and of course Robert Putt.
There is also appearances for Paul King, Claudia Grace Mckell, Cassandra French, Robert Walters, Gloria Price, Tony Ryan and Bethany Linnell.
Directed by Darren S Cook, the film is shot in black and white on location in Tendring and North Essex.
The film received the Best Feature Film Award at the 2021 National Film Awards.
Ten Percent is based on the stage play Long Live the King that was first performed at the Spring Field Theatre in 1990. It depicts the story of the 1937 World Heavyweight Boxing Title fight between the Champion, James, Cinderella Man, Braddock and Joe, The Brown Bomber, Louis.
The play has consistently received positive reviews and a wonderful audience reaction.
In 2004, it was decided that the play would be made into a stylised black and white film. Directed by Adam Ross and featuring both A. G. Longhurst and Lloyd Notice in the title roles. The film was produced by A. G. Longhurst as well as the screenplay by A. G. Longhurst and Adam Ross.
The film includes a cast of A. G. Longhurst, Andrew Beck and James Osborne, Tony MacPherson, Ray Shell, Lovelace Akpojaro, Will Gains, James Osborne, Paul Nipper, Paul Gormley, Tony Rochira as well as Joe Cronin and Grant Davis.
This ultra low budget film managed to receive the Jury Award at the Inaugural Waterford Film festival in 2007.
