Longhurst and Putt Productions Team - Anthony Longhurst

A.G. Longhurst

Like most people, Tony discovered his love of acting at school.

A.G. Longhurst, better known as Tony by those closest to him, left school early to pursue his love of acting.

His first attempt at getting into the business was with the Cockpit Youth Theatre and at the Anna Scher theatre in Islington. James Osborne who lived on the same housing estate also attended and the pair have remained close friends as well as industry associates, both appearing in plays and becoming film extras.

It was not until Tony was 27 that he decided to apply to drama school and having recently returned from the USA, he decided to apply for the newly formed Lee Strasberg Studio that had opened in London, eventually receiving a scholarship.

Once finished with drama school he created his first theatre company and became the artist director of the Springfield Park Tavern, a pub theatre. He wrote and produced several plays including Robin Hood Was A Hero and Long Live the King, as well as appearing in many productions including Alfie, His Brothers Keeper and A Mid Summer Night’s Dream.

He toured the USA in Ajax with Aquila Productions and appeared in several TV programmes such as The Bill, EastEnders, London’s Burning and many more, also making his West End debut. In 1996 he made his first featured film appearance in Fever Pitch.

In 2005 he appeared in Charlie as Roy Hall and on his return, produced his first Feature film Ten Percent – based on his play Long Live the King. The film went on to win the Jury Award at the Inaugural Waterford Film Festival.

Tony has continued to appear on TV, films, on stage productions and on radio and has toured and appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe. Tony is now hoping the success of Lucas and Albert will spur on the next productions.

Longhurst and Putt Productions Team - Robert Putt

Robert Putt

Robert will always be a part of the history of the company.

Robert has had a long career spanning over 50 years and has worked in film, TV and on stage.

Robert helped with the production of Babysitters also helped with the subsequent re-write of the stage play. Robert was also a major part of writing the screenplay for Lucas and Albert.

Once the film was completed Robert decided to step back from producing and will always be part of the company’s history, however we hope that we will work together again someday. Thank you Bob.

Cheska Leslie

It soon became apparent that she was far more important to the shoot than just photography.

Cheska first met Tony via Facebook and was interested in her help for an upcoming project. But once the Lucas and Albert film got the green light, she was asked to do the photography for the film.

It soon became apparent that she was far more important to the shoot than just photography.

Her extensive knowledge and her vast network in the area meant that Cheska rose to the role of Line-Producer. Cheska became the heart of the production, not only with locations but also when it came to recruitment. Her organisational skills and her ability to get things done make her a very important part of any shoot as well as being a major part of the company.

Darren S. Cook

When it comes to directing our films, Darren is the obvious choice.

Darren S Cook is the founder of Scruffy Bear Pictures and has over 30 years experience. He received a Coupe de Coeur for his short film “Broken Silence” in Cannes in 2010.

When working on a project with the team, Darren stated that one day he would work with the team again. So when he was asked to shoot the promo video for Babysitters, he knew things would work out well.

It was also Darren that suggested that the two characters of Lucas and Albert could make a stand alone film. So when it came to directing the film Darren was the obvious choice. With his close friend and D.O.P Neil Phillips they lifted the film to the level it is today and it was no surprise that his and our first feature film Lucas and Albert won the Best Feature Film at the 2021 National film Awards.

Darren has agreed to direct the next film Babysitters and we hope that this association continues.
